Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1980:

Gatunek synantropijny, prawdopodobnie kosmopolityczny, znany z Europy, północnej Afryki, Syberii, Indii, Ameryki Północnej, Australii i Nowej Zelandii. Szeroko rozprzestrzeniony w prawie całej Europie, z wyjątkiem jej skrajnych części północnych. W Polsce występuje od Bałtyku aż po Tatry, ale nie znany jeszcze ze wszystkich krain. Zasiedla piwnice, stajnie, stodoły, szopy, występując pod gnijącą słomą, sianem i innymi szczątkami roślinnymi. Znajdowany także w gniazdach i chodnikach szczurów, myszy, królików, chomików i borsuków, nadto w dziuplach drzew, pod korą, wśród mchów i w gnijących hubach.
