Taxon description
[KFP — (1791b): Quedius melium] Bardzo rzadko spotykany gatunek, o słabo poznanym rozmieszczeniu ogólnym. Opisany z Ukraińskiej SRR. Ogólnikowa wzmianka A. Horiona. (1951) o występowaniu omawianego gatunku w Polsce jest błędna, a oparta na stanowisku leżących na wschód od naszej granicy.
[KFP 1796: Quedius puncticollis] Gatunek rozsiedlony w zachodniej, środkowej oraz północnej Europie, ale tylko w jej części południowej. W Polsce rzadko wykazywany, znany tylko z trzech krain. Zamieszkuje zarówno obszary nizinne jak i górskie, docierając w nich do strefy alpejskiej. Prowadzi podziemny sposób życia, występuje głównie w gniazdach kretów, gdzie jest najczęściej spotykanym gatunkiem omawianego rodzaju. Znajdowany również w gniazdach myszy, szczurów, chomików, świstaków, a nawet trzmieli i os.
