Taxon description
Gatunek palearktyczny, szeroko rozprzestrzeniony w Europie, a w Fennoskandii sięgający daleko poza koło podbiegunowe. W Polsce rzadko spotykany, znany z nielicznych stanowisk rozproszonych w różnych częściach kraju, nie poławiany od przeszło 60 lat. Występuje w przegrzybiałym drewnie i w hubach rosnących na bukach, topolach, wierzbach i brzozach (zwłaszcza w północnej części swego rozsiedlenia).
